Activities

Golf

Why not tee off for a round of golf with friends. We have clubs available for hire and can even organize lessons if required.

Horses

Given that in by-gone days, Polo-cross was the game that was played where the golf course now exists; it is not surprising that there are still horses at Koitaki Country Club. Our horseman will lead you on a gentle stroll, helmets are provided.

Snooker / pool table

For those who fancy a quite day, why not have a cold drink and challenge your mates to a game on a table in the bar.

Treking and Bush walking

The most famous trek in PNG is the Kokoda Trial. If you are staying with us at the beginning or the end of your trek we can pick you up or drop you off at Owens Corner, talk to us about what you are doing. While this is a popular walking trek, it is isolated in parts and the terrain is rough and it can be very cold at night. We recommend that you prepare properly, including joining an organized trekking party. It is also strongly advised that you purchase travel insurance before you commence your trek.

Other popular and scenic areas include Crystal Rapids, the Sirinumu Dam and Varirata National Park, we do, however, recommend going in a group as there can be security issues. If you need transport, please talk to us, we are happy to assist you.

Flora and Fauna

Papua New Guinea is renowned for the diversity of its flora and fauna. Bright butterflies abound at Koitaki Country Club and in the mornings you will be woken by a cacophony of bird songs. If you are not a golfer, you may still enjoy strolling around our grounds looking at the flowers and photographing the butterflies that rest upon them.

Conferences

Our conference room is well equipped. This is the perfect place away from the distractions of the city to have your board meetings, seminar, conference or team building day. Talk to us about what you need to out fit the room for your event and your catering requirements.

Weddings / Engagement parties / Family milestones

Say “I do” in our garden. Whether it is under a marquee or under the stars, we will work with you to make your dream day come true.

Important information

Security

Koitaki Country Club is a safe environment and we have on site security. We do, however, recommend that you lock your room whenever you leave it and if you are planning to leave for a day trip let us know your plans.

Children

Koitaki Country Club is child friendly; children are welcome at Koitaki Country Club, in fact wanting a place for families and children to go, is a primary motivation behind what Bob and Sharon are doing at Koitaki Country Club. Please note, in an around the swimming pool, children must be supervised by an adult at all times, there is no lifeguard.

What to wear

Situated in the Owen Stanley ranges the Koitaki Country Club has a different climate to that coastal climate of Port Moresby. In the cooler months from May – September, while shorts and tee-shirts are still essential clothing, we recommend you include lightweight warm clothing as the temperature can drop in the evening, it is not uncommon for the barometer to get down to 12degees. From October to April and especially in the hot, humid and rainy months of November – February, light clothing is essential but if you are going to be outdoors for long periods of time we suggest you also pack long sleeved clothing not only as added sun protection but also protection against insect bites. A rain coat never goes astray and shoes (don’t forget your socks !) should be sturdy ie: good for walking, hiking and possibly horse riding, sandals are good for wearing around the Koitaki Country Club.
